The first is to understand the design and application requirements, and choose the parameters without getting the preliminary design requirements. In mass production applications, we must ensure the balance between performance and cost, that is, to meet the product application requirements while the cost is within a controllable range. For example, if engineers design 1.5W/mK---2.0W/mK to meet the application requirements, then we don’t need to choose 2.0W/mK, because the cost will inevitably be a lot higher, but the performance is With high configuration, no obvious effect can be seen, and the increase in cost will inevitably hinder mass production.



In addition to thermal conductivity, another important factor that affects the thermal conductivity of thermally conductive insulating materials is thermal resistance. In the case of the same thermal conductivity, the lower the thermal resistance, the smaller the resistance to heat conduction and the better the thermal conductivity. This factor is often ignored in many purchases. Take GLPOLY XK-SF15 and Berges Sil-pad 1500 as examples. The thermal conductivity of GLPOLY XK-SF15 is 1.5W/mK, and the thermal conductivity of Bergis Sil-pad1500 is 1.8W/mK. Does this mean that the thermal conductivity of Bergis Sil-pad1500 is better? Not necessarily, because the thermal resistance of the two products is different.

Since it is a thermally conductive insulating material, in addition to good thermal conductivity, insulation performance is also a key parameter. Because most of the thermally conductive insulating materials are used in places with higher voltages, the withstand voltage is usually required to be no less than 3.5kV.
