The developers of drones recommend drones to various fields: in peacetime, you can monitor pipelines in the tundra, search for forest fires, search for fish, etc., during wartime, you can perform reconnaissance, low-altitude bombing, and difficult terrain. Targets (such as caves) launch air-to-surface missiles and other tasks. But no one would have thought that these tasks might not be completed during wartime due to the following reasons.

  Only relying on the gyroscope-based inertial navigation system, the UAV cannot obtain sufficiently accurate self-coordinate data. Therefore, the flight control of UAVs in various countries adopts the combination of GPS satellite navigation system and inertial navigation system.


 
When the UAV performs photographic reconnaissance of the stationary tank, it must obtain the geographic coordinates of the target, and this can only be achieved with the help of the GPS system (in the future, it can also be achieved with the aid of the "Glonas" or "Galileo" satellite navigation system. The drone also needs to know its precise location when taking pictures, so a GPS signal receiver is installed on the drone. The GPS signal receiver can not only continuously measure the current coordinates of the UAV, but also can start and work regularly to correct the inertial navigation system.
 The UAV still needs to know its own geographic coordinates to return to the base after obtaining the information. The precise bombing and launching of air-to-surface missiles by UAVs also need to accurately determine their current position relative to the target, and inertial navigation systems cannot provide positioning data with the required accuracy.
 

The question now is: What will happen if the drone's onboard GPS signal receiver or other similar device fails due to electronic interference from the enemy? There is only one answer: GPS signal receivers will lose their positioning function, and unmanned reconnaissance aircraft or unmanned attack aircraft will also become a pile of scrap iron. As early as in the Moscow Air Show held in 1997, a Russian company demonstrated the first GPS and "GLONASS" satellite navigation signal electronic jamming transmitter, which can damage the satellite navigation signal receiver and make it Loss of positioning function. This kind of jamming launcher caused a sensation in the West as soon as it came out. The Americans first realized that this new product posed a serious threat to their technological weapons. The Pentagon purchased dozens of such jamming devices and used it to test its technical weapons based on the GPS system. As a result of the test, the precision-guided weapons (cruise missiles, JDAM precision-guided bombs, etc.) of the United States and other NATO countries have significantly reduced their strike accuracy under interference. Therefore, an important conclusion can be drawn from this: a country can effectively counter the enemy's precision-guided weapons by establishing a dense electromagnetic interference field over its entire territory with the help of this jamming device. In this case, the precision-guided weapon will not be able to correct its flight trajectory with the help of the GPS system, and will eventually deviate from the intended target.
