Absorbing principle of wave material in RFID

1) Introduction to RFID: radio frequency identification (RFID) is the abbreviation of radio frequency identification. The principle of this method is non-contact data communication between reader and tag to achieve the purpose of target identification. RFID is widely used. At present, typical applications include animal chip, car chip anti-theft device, access control, parking control, production line automation, material management.

2) Composition of RFID system

RFID system is composed of an electronic tag or contactless smart card (such as a smart phone with card swiping function) placed on the identified object and a device that sends instructions to the electronic tag and collects feedback information from the electronic tag. The device is also called RFID card reader or reader. As shown in Figure 1, in order to enable other devices to display or use these data, generally, an interface with RS232 protocol can be set on the reader writer, so that information can be transmitted with external devices.

3) Absorbing principle of absorbing materials in RFID

Microwave absorbing material is a kind of magnetic functional material with high permeability. It is usually made by filling some absorbent evenly on polymer material by special technology. Compared with the traditional absorbing materials, this kind of high-performance absorbing materials for 13.56MHz are different in performance characterization and application principle.

The following is a specific comparison of the special application of absorbing materials in electronic label products, and at the same time to solve the problem that the electronic tag can not communicate normally when meeting metal plate.

a) It means that the propagation of electromagnetic field is not affected by a non-metallic and non-magnetic object, or it is equivalent to electromagnetic wave propagating in free space according to the original direction, so the energy and direction of electromagnetic field are not disturbed. Fig. 3 (b) is a metal plate with good electrical conductivity based on Fig. 3 (a). It can be clearly seen that the direction of magnetic line of force has changed greatly. It is mainly manifested in the change of magnetic field before and after the metal plate, which is the so-called shielding phenomenon.

There is no magnetic field behind the metal plate, and the direction facing the incident electromagnetic field will generate an electromagnetic field opposite to the incident electromagnetic field due to the eddy current generated by the metal plate, which weakens the magnetic field and even completely counteracts the original magnetic field. The problem can be solved by the solution shown in Fig. 3 (c), that is, after the absorbing material (sheet) is pasted on the surface of the metal plate in the direction of the incident electromagnetic field, an effective path can be provided for the magnetic field transmission. Therefore, due to the existence of the absorbing material, the eddy current effect of the metal plate is effectively avoided.
